A Shoe and A Robot Go Into A Bag
The Find
My husband and I recently reached empty on the bottles of our favorite fragrances.
So we bought some more.
His purchase, a recommendation from me (and a Sephora sample that didn’t disappoint).
My purchase, a recommendation from a female co-worker who complimented my scent one day and suggested it for my next purchase. (Women can be cool like that).
Shown above is a picture of our brand new roommates in all of their glory.
The Funny Thing
Now I can assure you, neither one of us would’ve selected these scents based on the packaging alone.
No shade to the marketing gurus who conceptualized the decanters for these popular brands, but um, all I need my fragrance to do is smell pretty. And I can assure you, my husband was not hoping for a new robot to add to his man bag.
So yeah, this would’ve been a miss for us both based on packaging alone. It peaks curiosity, sure. But a robot and a stiletto didn’t necessarily scream “us” in terms of what we’d want to smell like.
Turns out, we think that they both smell ah-mazing. And as fragrance purchases go, I think that’s what matters most, right? Mine is a soft and subtle combination of black cherry, vanilla and rose. And his smells like… like I’m glad we’re married. 😊
A Fresh Fragrance
It’s hard not to joke about Mr. Robot and Ms. Stiletto every time we pick up the bottles. But honestly, the outcome is no laughing matter.
Maybe they look a little silly and outlandish on our dresser, but they’re a perfect fit for us both. They absolutely get the job done, and we’re both very satisfied with our purchases.
That experience got me to thinking about people.
We can come across a fair amount of robot and stiletto types in our daily travels. Maybe they look odd to us, or extravagant or not the type we’d immediately find in our people group. But that doesn’t mean that they lack value. Not judging a book by its cover is old advice sure, but I think it’s advice that still rings true.
Next time you cross paths with someone giving you robot or stiletto vibes, don’t be so quick to count them out. Take some time to engage with them and show them kindness. You may be pleasantly surprised by the outcome. 😊
And now, in the spirit of pleasant outcomes, how about a cool coffee tip to end our time together?
A Sweet Treat
One of my girlfriends shared this lovely concoction with me recently, and it’s my new favorite way to enjoy an afternoon coffee break. If you’re looking for simple, sweet, and satisfying without the sugar, this little recipe will be right up your alley. 😊
My Caramel Coffee Break
In your favorite mug, heat ¼ cup Almond Coconut Nutpods creamer (Caramel flavor) in the microwave for approximately 25 seconds.
Add 8-10 oz. of brewed coffee, ½ tsp. of vanilla extract and a few sprinkles of cinnamon. Stir well and enjoy!
(Hint: I used this coffee).
Cheers!
