A Sign to Be Still

“Hold still, Pam.”

Growing up, I probably heard my mom say that to me no less than a dozen times in an average week.

Mom’s plan? To finish my hairstyle and get me on the school bus before it left. My plan? To fidget. Fuss about. Get sidetracked. Wreak havoc. Hinder Mom’s plan.

And I often did. All because I couldn’t be still enough to let her do what she needed to do.

It was always an easier process when I would stop moving to my own inner drum beat, and just let my mother work.

As an adult, I’m still learning versions of that very same lesson as I walk with God. I write about it over here, on the God Hears Her blog from Our Daily Bread Ministries.
